Being on PlayStation and adding the extra layer of immersion means it slightly edges out the PC version for me personally. I didn’t have the time or patience for it and that’s on me but I still strongly believe that this is a game for the few and not the masses. Hell let loose is not a bad game, it’s a hardcore players game built for them, and for everyone else, it’s a slog, it’s hours of YouTube videos and getting better over time. I always felt alone and isolated and when I did get a bit of a reprieve, I would spend it just running around the barren wasteland until I got one-shotted from like 20 miles away. It requires teamwork, comms, and dedication to which I will never have time for. I just could not get on with it, granted that maybe my diet of arcade shooters and games like Battlefield have made me soft and unable to get a grip but I found Hell let loose to be every bit as impenetrable as Squad. It will not break you in, nor will it try and help you or nurture you, it will drop you into the chaotic menus and bad performing battlefield of life. Make no mistake about it, Hell Let Loose is a gritty no-nonsense tactical shooter on the grand stage. A lot of just running across an empty land.Several times I went in using a controller and I couldn’t bring up any menus to leave, edit settings or look at bindings.No comms really kills it or if someone Lone wolves it.Spawn camping is a thing and a common one at that.Nothing is very welcoming, just a cold opening menu then into a warzone.Text is oh so small especially in-game.It’s one of those games where you need to watch YouTube videos just to learn the mechanics and play style.How to play is just a series of text pages.Uses the same style of menu and system as Battlefield in that you see the squads and join them, see spawn points, etc.Two recon classes – spotter and sniper.All the feedback with the controller definitely adds the next level of atmosphere and immersion. Two armor classes – tank commander and crewman.Nine infantry classes – officer, rifleman, assault, automatic rifleman, medic, support, machine gunner, anti-tank, and engineer.It has vaulting over walls and through windows.You can build spawn points, drop-in supplies, call in airstrikes.Vehicles are a case of starting the engine and you can swap seats etc.Has MAG vibes to it from the way the comms work to the grand scale of it all.The end-of-game scoreboard broke down my squad and team.Down but not out state so you can be revived along with the option to just straight up die.Excellent music and sound effects and best played with headphones.Hardcore shooter in terms of no spectate or kill cam etc.Character customisation for each role – helmet, head, and uniform along with loadout.Using voice chat and proper speak elevates the game to the next level.On-screen prompts with helpful tips and tricks.Vehicles are in the game from the truck to the tanks.14 roles to pick from like rifleman, medic, sniper, anti-tank, etc.Realistic and impressive surround sound.The deploy map has clear markings and a legend.Three chat levels-Local, squad only, and leader.Has 3 factions – Germany, Soviet Union, and the United States.Find match – set region, private lobbies, and cross-play.It is all text-based and covers everything. The Field Manual is your how-to-play section.Invert axis and sensitivity sliders for aiming, ads aiming, and map movement.Toggle settings for lean, ADS, and sprint.Graphics – brightness slider and motion blur.The controller has four layout choices.This is World War Two at a scale you’ve never played before.
